Ambassadors Commemorate the Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women 25/11/2024

The Cameroonian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, H.E Madam Liguemoh Ondoua Madeleine has joined other Female Heads of Mission in the Netherlands to commemorate the Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November 2024.

In 2008, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched the campaign, UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women. 25 November, was designated as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day (16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign).

The decided signature colour of the campaign is the colour ‘orange’. As a bright and optimistic colour, orange was chosen to represent a future free from violence against women and girls.

From 25 November to 10 December every year, UNiTE calls on people everywhere to wear the colour orange and take action to end violence against women and girls in communities, at home, in public spaces, in schools and workplaces, during conflict and in times of peace.

Therefore, just like last year 2023, all Ambassadors/Heads of missions were required to wear orange-coloured dresses or attires (the symbolic colour) towards this course. On 25 November 2024, the female heads of mission gathered at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical weapons (OPCW) in the Hague, during the 2024 Conference of the States Parties (CSP), all dressed in orange to jointly commemorate this day.

The female Heads of mission gathered at the OPCW podium after the morning session of the 2024 Conference of the States Parties (CSP) to take group photographs, in commemoration of this important milestone.
